Many people have healthy pregnancies after augmentation, and implants do not generally pose a risk to pregnancy or the baby. However, pregnancy can change the appearance of augmented breasts.
What can change
- Breasts enlarge during pregnancy and breastfeeding, then may lose volume afterwards.
- Skin stretching can lead to sagging, sometimes revealing or worsening droop over the implant.
- Results may differ from your pre-pregnancy appearance.
Timing considerations
Some people choose to complete their family before augmentation to avoid these changes, while others do not — both are reasonable. If you have surgery first and later become pregnant, a future revision or lift can address changes if you wish. See also breastfeeding.
