Every breast implant operation leaves a scar, but its final appearance depends on incision choice, surgical technique, your skin and how the scar is cared for during healing.
Surgical factors
- Hiding the incision in the fold (inframammary) or areolar border (periareolar).
- Gentle tissue handling and careful, tension-free closure.
Aftercare you can control
- Following wound-care instructions and avoiding tension on the scar early on.
- Silicone gels or sheets once wounds have healed, as advised.
- Protecting scars from the sun while they mature.
- Scar massage when your surgeon recommends it.
Realistic expectations
