The right bra supports healing and helps implants settle into position. Most surgeons specify a particular type and a timeline.
Post-surgical support bra
A soft, non-wired, front-fastening support bra is usually worn day and night for the first few weeks. It controls swelling, supports the implants and keeps them stable while the pocket heals.
Sports/soft bras
As healing progresses you may move to a comfortable sports or soft bra, often for several weeks.
Underwired bras
Underwiring is typically avoided for around 6 weeks (sometimes longer), as the wire can press on healing incisions and the settling lower pole. Wait for your surgeon's go-ahead, then get professionally fitted — your size may have changed.
