Aftercare does not end when you have recovered. Because implants are not lifetime devices, long-term follow-up protects your health and your result.

What ongoing care involves

  • Attending recommended review appointments.
  • Knowing your normal and reporting changes — firmness, pain, lumps, one-sided swelling.
  • Continuing routine breast screening and telling staff you have implants.
  • Keeping your implant card and details safe.

Imaging and planning

Because silicone rupture can be silent, periodic MRI or ultrasound may be advised to check integrity. Anticipate that some future surgery is likely over your lifetime. See long-term recovery.
