Breast implants showing different profiles

Two implants can share the same volume but look completely different depending on their projection. Understanding projection demystifies the "profile" names manufacturers use.

Projection vs width

Every implant balances base width against forward projection. A wide, low-projection implant spreads volume across the chest; a narrow, high-projection implant pushes volume forward. The same cc can therefore look subtle or dramatic.

The profile ladder

  • Moderate — wider base, less projection, natural and flat.
  • Moderate plus — balanced middle ground.
  • High — narrower base, more projection.
  • Extra high — narrowest base, most projection.

Why width comes first

Surgeons usually start from your breast base width, then choose the profile that delivers your desired projection within that width. This is why measurements matter more than a target cup size. See implant width guide.
