Operating theatre prepared for surgery

Breast augmentation is often a day case or a single overnight stay. Knowing the routine helps you feel prepared.

On the day

  • Admission, pre-op checks and marking by your surgeon.
  • Meeting your anaesthetist and confirming the plan.
  • Surgery under general anaesthetic, usually 1–2 hours.

After surgery

  • Recovery in a ward as the anaesthetic wears off.
  • Pain relief, your support bra fitted, and observation.
  • Discharge once you are eating, drinking, comfortable and mobile — with aftercare instructions and follow-up arranged.

Arrange for someone to drive you home and stay with you the first night. See the recovery timeline.
